Pets looking for loving homes
It's that time of year again! The Rutland County Humane Society (RCHS) would like to remind you to license your dog by April 1st.
Did you know that Vermont law requires all dogs over 6 months of age to be registered with the clerk of the city in which the Vermont resident resides and be renewed annually? To register them with your town: You should keep your pet up to date on rabies vaccinations.
It is also state law that all cats must be vaccinated against rabies.
Check with your veterinarian to make sure your dog or cat is up to date on vaccinations and make an appointment if necessary. If you have any questions about how to register your dog, please contact your municipal official.
Squid introduction: 10 months old, neutered male, mixed breed, red.
Squid and his friend Chico were recently brought to Vermont from Korea. He's been playing with shelter staff in the laundry room and office, learning how to be a dog.
Squid is kind and gentle, and although he is beginning to like attention, treats, and spending time with others, he approaches new situations with cautious curiosity. Squids are good learners and have never been kept as household pets. These qualities make the squid a bit of an escape artist, and owners need to be aware of this and be ready to keep an eye on him whenever he is not in a secure enclosure.
If you want to meet squid, please stop by!
Clifford's introduction: 9 year old castrated male, domestic short hair, black.
Clifford is a very handsome boy who wants to spend his golden years in the comfort of his couch.
He is a very sweet boy who loves attention. He never says no to a good pet! He is an ideal companion. He has a very gentle personality and will likely be a couch potato in his forever home. He has so much love to give.
Clifford is one of the sweetest boys you'll ever meet. He was surrendered to the shelter on January 18th because he was having trouble toileting. However, he hasn't shown any signs of this since he was taken to a shelter. He uses the toilet perfectly.
He is kind to men, women and children. Although he did not live with other cats in his previous home, shelter staff do not think he will have any problems with his feline friends. He does not show any negative attitude towards them.
Clifford loves playing with toys once he gets used to his environment.
