Join Pet Fest to kick off Spring Break events at the Pflugerville Public Library.
Since its founding in 2016, Pet Pfest has celebrated everything that's great about the animals we love. The annual Petfest will be held on Saturday, March 9th from 2pm to 4pm. This year's featured presentation is about the care and breeding of these popular exotic animals by Debbie Barrett of Pica Ranch Alpacas. After the presentation, there will be a meet-and-greet session with the alpacas.
Activities for guests include crafts for adults and children, balloon animals from Miss Poppy the Clown, pet caricatures by Serena Romero, a pet costume parade, and a raffle for pet-themed goody bags. (sponsored by the Friends of the Pflugerville Public Library), as well as information booths from the Friends of the Pflugerville Animal Shelter and the Modern Animal Veterinary Clinic. Well-behaved pets on a leash are always welcome in the library, even after Pet Fest has ended.
Pet Pfest features local animals including adoptable animals from Austin Guinea Pig Rescue, Austin Pug Rescue, Central Texas Dachshund Rescue, Cuz I Matter Animal Rescue, Final Frontier Rescue Project, House Rabbit Resource Network, and Jack Many conservation organizations will be participating. -Jax Pack Street Dog Rescue. Spring break fun lasts all week.
Family Night on March 11th will feature DIY wooden flower wall decorations. This event is recommended for families with children ages 5 and older and registration is required.
MakerGirl's next virtual session will be held March 12 at 6 p.m. MakerGirl is a program for everyone, not just girls, to learn the basics of computer-aided design and 3D printing. Registration for all spring sessions is available at faforms.com/5104504. The Pflugerville Public Library would like to especially thank his EOS North America for sponsoring this program.
For younger children (ages 5-8), Kids Club on March 12th will feature poetry fun and games, and Wednesday the 13th will feature a relaxing movement program that teaches the basics of yoga. You can join Y is for Yoga.
Tween Time on March 13 will feature special guests Hayate Doll and cosplayer Brianna Molina who will talk about how she got started in this form of art and her adventures while cosplaying. She also shares some of the techniques tweens use when assembling shields for their next costume. Please note that this program begins at 4:00 p.m. Registration for participation will begin on Wednesday, March 6th.
Our special Spring Break activities conclude with a Karate Dance Party on Thursday, March 14th at 2:00 p.m. This party is a highly interactive live music concert for kids and adults alike. The Karate Dance Party show, created by Gene Davis of the band Que Pastas, will leave kids happy but exhausted after 40 minutes of jumping, dancing and running on the spot. Registration for participation will begin on Thursday, March 7th.
Finally, towards the end of spring break, be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, March 23rd and Farm Day, a free family-friendly event held at the Heritage House Museum. Enjoy family time with farm-themed activities on the museum grounds at 901 Old Austin Hut Road. A petting zoo, miniature horses, games, balloon animals and snacks will be available for families with children up to 12 years old. Ingredients and snacks will be sold out on a first-come, first-served basis.
