Pet of the Week: Shimmer

With 58 days until spring, now is the perfect time to adopt a pet to explore the outdoors with you.

Shimmer was named the KRIS 6 News Pet of the Week and currently works for the City of Corpus Christi Animal Care Services.

Shimmer (A361741) is a female black and white American Staffordshire Terrier mix. She is 5 years old and weighs 55.2 pounds. However, unfortunately, she tested positive for heartworms.

Mr. Simmer's first day at CCACS was December 7, 2023, and CCACS staff have had the opportunity to get to know Mr. Simmer since he came to the shelter.

“Simmer was on trial in playgroup. She was playful, friendly and sociable with the people in the group,” said Matilda Perez, Community Relations Specialist at CCACS.

Staff said Simmer also came into animal control along with other dogs.

“Simmer was friendly and sociable with the staff and liked receiving treats from them,” Perez added.
