While many people spend Christmas exchanging gifts with friends and anxiously awaiting gifts from Santa Claus, Ty Kwon Hillary College is adding a unique touch to celebrating the festive spirit. At this school, Christmas is all about giving back to the community.
As part of the university's annual themed celebration, “The Power of Kindness,'' we partnered with Operation Santa Claus (OSC) to organize a holiday fundraising event. Christmas took on a deeper meaning for these students, providing the perfect opportunity to spread kindness and embrace the true spirit of the season.
OSC is an annual fundraising campaign co-sponsored by the South China Morning Post and public broadcaster RTHK since 1988. This year, OSC is funding 15 philanthropic projects for worthy causes.
To support this meaningful initiative, the school organized two different fundraisers. One of these was an expressive musical performance that brought students together to understand the power of music and dance as a form of artistic expression. Donations for the performance were collected voluntarily, and the number of visitors exceeded expectations, demonstrating the students' desire to help.

To engage more students in philanthropic and service activities, Jacqueline Chan, the school's International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) Creative Activities Services (CAS) Coordinator, is organizing a separate fundraising event in conjunction with the music performance. I planned an event.
The CAS team set up a creative donation booth with a capsule toy machine and was able to attract a large number of students. Donors who donated more than HK$20 could use their tokens to twist the crank of the machine. Inside the capsule was a surprise gift waiting for the students to open it.
The donated prizes were mainly stationery items and were sponsored by the school and the student-led economic organization TKHC Entrepreneurs. The booth was a great success, raising over HK$6,000. The students were clearly excited to donate and show support to poor communities in Hong Kong.

“The enthusiasm and compassion the students showed during the Christmas donation drive was truly moving,” said Chan.
A group of hard-working students helped prepare the gift capsules and encouraged their fellow students to take part in this meaningful fundraiser.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to help those in need,” said IBDP student Alvin Ho.

The school's Principal John Chun Ngai also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to partner with OSC, saying that by supporting fundraising efforts like this, students are encouraged to utilize their unique talents. , said they can unleash their creative potential and have a meaningful impact on their communities at the same time.
