“Crisis” was released in February 2021. It was clearly bad timing for everyone else who worked on the film, as suspicions had started pouring in a month earlier. This controversy may have helped the film keep a low profile and only grossed just over $1 million at the worldwide box office. Another film was scheduled to be released in which Hammer would play a major role – 2022's Death on the Nile – and later that year the documentary series House of Hammer would be released. Things got even worse.
Hammer was not recast in the Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) murder mystery, but his presence in the film was significantly downplayed. Hammer's Nile co-star Gal Gadot responded to Hammer's controversy saying it was “very complicated.” “Death on the Nile” was cursed almost universally because it also starred Russell Brand, who espoused anti-vaccine beliefs and faced similar sexual assault accusations in 2023. That's enough problematic behavior to fill the Nile.
As of this writing, Mr. Hammer has no upcoming projects, given how he was removed from nearly every job he was involved in on an interim basis when the allegations first surfaced. Mr. Hammer has no future projects planned. Although the sexual assault charges against Hammer were dropped in May 2023, it is no exaggeration to say that his reputation has been forever tarnished. “Crisis” is one of his last films that people will be able to see, and in some countries he is currently available on Netflix.
