Nvidia co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang is credited with building the company into one of the world's leading AI chip makers. He is also very identifiable with his signature biker-esque style.
But on a recent visit to China, Huang ditched his iconic black leather jacket and replaced it with a traditional floral-print fabric vest, Chinese state media recently reported. It was his first visit to the country in four years.
Nvidia did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside normal business hours, but confirmed that Huang had visited Bloomberg and the South China Morning Post. A company representative told SCMP that Huang traveled to China to celebrate the Lunar New Year (February this year) with local staff.
Nvidia staff posted a video of the celebration on social media. One of the photos shows Huang, 60, wearing a red floral vest and performing a traditional dance, spinning a handkerchief with both hands.
According to various reports, Huang visited NVIDIA offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. It is unclear whether he met with industry executives or others.
Huang's visit to China comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and China over a variety of issues, including technology and geopolitics.
In October, the Biden administration announced regulations restricting the export of some AI chips to China.
The restrictions put Nvidia in a difficult position, since China typically accounts for about one-fifth of the company's revenue.
