North Beach PAWS will conduct five dog and cat vaccination clinics this year at various locations in Western Washington.
The Grays Harbor County-based nonprofit will conduct two clinics in 2023, where more than 300 animals were vaccinated and microchipped.
Washington state law requires all dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies. North Beach PAWS says other diseases, such as distemper, are also prevalent in wildlife and can be transmitted to unvaccinated pets.
“Thanks to vaccination, many common diseases are completely preventable. A microchip is the only permanent identification that can reunite you with a lost and beloved pet. It can be broken or lost. “Unlike sex collars or ID tags, microchips last a pet's lifetime,” North Beach PAWS said in a news release.
Vaccinations and microchips are $20 each. Key vaccines include rabies, DAPP, Bordetella for dogs, rabies, FVRCP, and flea treatments for cats.
Clinic dates and locations are as follows:
• May 19th at the Rochester feed bin from 1-4 p.m.
• June 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the South Beach Regional Fire Department Training Center in Westport.
• July 14th at Montesano Farm and Home from 1-4 p.m.
• Aug. 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Grays Harbor College.
• September 21st at ACE Hardware in Ocean Shores from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Each event is on a first-come, first-served basis. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier bag.
