One person was injured in a shooting on the SAU Tech campus in East Camden around 10:31 p.m. Monday.
The victim, who is not a SAU Tech student, was taken to Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The victim has since been released from the hospital.
SAU Tech announced in a statement that its campus was placed on lockdown following the shooting.
The incident is being investigated by campus police, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, and the Arkansas State Police.
“The safety and security of our students is paramount, and it is extremely unfortunate that an off-campus incident would spill over and put the campus community at risk,” said Dr. Ed Rice, Vice President for Student Services. SAU College of Engineering Chancellor Dr. Jerry Thomas thanked law enforcement and first responders for their quick response.
