Virginia Tech men's basketball, hosting the first round of the NIT for the first time since 2016, will face Richmond on Tuesday at the Carillion Clinic Courts at Cassell Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2.
The Hokies (18-14) will play the Spiders (23-9) for the 109th time in program history. Tech leads the all-time series with 69 wins and 39 losses. Richmond won the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championship and will travel to Blacksburg for its first regular season matchup with Tech since January 14, 2009. The winner of VT and Richmond will advance to face the winner of Ohio State vs. Cornell. It will be held at the top seeded site on March 23rd or 24th.
Tech has a 25-12 record in the tournament and has won twice (1973 and 1995). Tuesday will be the Hokies' 15th appearance in the NIT.
Details regarding the ticketing process have been published. Because Kassel Coliseum has been designated by his NIT as a neutral venue, ticket sales guidelines must follow NIT's processes and protocols as outlined below.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting Monday, March 18th and will cost $20. All seats are reserved (excluding student seats).
Hokie Scholarship Fund Donors and Men's Basketball Season Ticket Holders
As outlined in Hokie Club Investment Guide, Hokie Scholarship Fund donors (as of March 1, 2023) and 2023-24 men's basketball season ticket holders will have exclusive access to pre-sale tickets on Monday, March 18th. The top three donor levels (Hokie Stone, Hokie Scholar, and Hokie Ambassador) will receive access to tickets starting at 10 a.m. ET. At noon, the window will open for all other Hokie Scholarship Fund donors and men's basketball season ticket holders. Tickets will be allocated based on the most available location at the time of purchase.

Thanks to the generosity of many loyal donors, a limited number of student tickets were purchased and donated to Virginia Tech Athletics. These tickets are free to students and can be received on a first-come, first-served basis starting 24 hours before tip-off. Tickets are limited to one per student. General public
A limited number of tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday, March 18th at 2pm, with an order limit of six tickets. Join Interest List An email reminder will be delivered directly to your inbox when tickets become available.
If tickets remain as of noon on Tuesday, March 19th, ticket order restrictions will be lifted.
