The Washington Capitals could return two key players in their lineup for Wednesday night's game against the Edmonton Oilers.
4th row center Nick Dowd and top pair defenseman Martin Fehebarry Both participated in the line rush during the team's practice Tuesday at Rogers Place.
When asked if that was a positive development for their return, Capitals head coach Spencer Carberry responded, “Yes. I think so.They continue to trend in the right direction, so let's wait and see [Wednesday night]”
Dowd has not played since February 20 after taking a direct hit to the head from Timo Meier in a game against the New Jersey Devils. Dowd was a highly coveted player at the trade deadline, but was ultimately not traded and has missed the last nine games with an upper-body injury.
Fehevary was ejected from the Capitals' 4-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens on February 17th after he was in net. The Slovakian rearguard was seen on crutches after the match due to a lower body injury.
Dowd and Fehevary appear to be on similar timelines, as they both took off their non-contact jerseys during Saturday's skate.
While these two players were close together, tom wilson's At the moment, the status is even more murky. Wilson missed Monday's game against the Winnipeg Jets due to an upper-body injury. He also missed the morning skate due to maintenance.
According to Mike Vogel of the Capitals:
[Wilson] He practiced on Tuesday and felt better, but Wednesday's condition should be more clear on the morning of the game.
Puck drop against the Oilers is at 10 p.m.
