The Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has launched a groundbreaking Health Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center – ADVANCE (AI Discovery and Surveillance to Accelerate Innovation and Clinical Excellence). The ADVANCE Center is a pivotal milestone in the evolution of innovation at the intersection of medicine, biomedical science, and informatics, and aims to transform patient care, research, and training through the power of state-of-the-art, proven, and trusted AI. I am.
Co-directed by DBMI's Peter Enbi, MD, and Dr. Bradley Mullin, ADVANCE leverages cutting-edge AI technology and expertise to drive innovation and excellence in research and healthcare. Through advanced data analytics, machine learning, predictive modeling, and generative AI capabilities, ADVANCE enables healthcare professionals, scientists, and patients to make informed decisions, accelerate biomedical discoveries, and improve clinical outcomes. will do so.
“ADVANCE embodies DBMI and VUMC’s commitment to pioneering research and data-driven precision healthcare. We aim to accelerate, transform healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes and ultimately save lives,” Vice President of Research and Innovation at VUMC.
“These are exciting times for AI researchers. This methodology has advanced to the point where AI can be rapidly reconfigured to support scientific investigation in almost any biomedical field. “We are likely to discover new discoveries that will lead to further understanding of science, new treatments, and treatment efficiencies,” said Marin, professor of biomedical informatics, biostatistics, and computer science and vice chair for research at Accenture. states. At DBMI.
ADVANCE will serve as a collaborative hub for interdisciplinary research and practice, fostering partnerships between clinicians, researchers, ethicists, data scientists, industry leaders, and community partners. ADVANCE aims to address complex healthcare challenges and drive breakthrough innovation by fostering broad collaboration.
MHSA Associate Professor Laurie Novak, Ph.D. “VUMC’s long history of bringing together social, organizational, and computational science to address practical problems in health and healthcare provides a roadmap for ADVANCE to innovate new approaches in responsible AI. ”Biomedical informatics, AI researcher, ADVANCE center leader.
“One of the main pillars of ADVANCE is to enable responsible AI by embedding ethics into the structure of the center,” said David E., core faculty member of the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Society and professor of biomedical informatics and health policy. said Dr. Susannah Rose, Associate Professor at . She is the ADVANCE center leader.
To celebrate the launch, Enbi and Marin will host an ADVANCE Center launch event at Langford Auditorium on Friday, March 8th from 2:00pm to 4:30pm. The event will begin with presentations and panel discussions on a variety of timely topics related to health AI and information about the new center. The event will conclude with a networking reception from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
