RED OAK, Iowa – Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced Small Business of the Week: Poweshiek County Brownells. Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize small businesses in all of his 99 counties in Iowa.

Founded in 1938 by Frank “Bob” Brownell II, Brownells is a third-generation family-owned business selling gunsmithing tools and gun supplies in Grinnell. Brownells maintains a supply of parts for his more than 50,000 guns, which he sells throughout the United States and around the world. The company's headquarters in Grinnell includes warehouses, corporate offices and retail stores. The Brownells also actively advocate for their Second Amendment rights. Pete Brownell served as President of the National Rifle Association (NRA) from 2017 to 2018, and Frank Brownell received the NRA Golden Bullseye Pioneer Award. This year, Brownells celebrates its 85th anniversary.th business anniversary.
