Mike Tyson is going to take the fight against Jake Paul seriously.
The heavyweight legend has been posting regular training videos in preparation for his fight with YouTube star Paul on July 20, despite plans to step into the ring at the age of 58.
Eyebrows have been raised over the health of the undisputed former world champion, who regularly smokes cannabis and was even seen using a cane just a few months ago.
And Tyson has hinted that he plans to quit using cannabis as part of his plan to stay in top physical condition.
When asked during an interview why he smokes, he said, “I don't know, maybe it has something to do with my tripolar tendencies or something.''
“But I don't think I'm going to smoke for this game. I think I'm going to be very frustrated and mean.”
Tyson was then asked if he would be eating his trademark ear-biting candy, and he added: “Normally I do, but for this fight I think I'm going to go pretty graphic and naked.”
Tyson has a cannabis empire in the United States and reportedly earns around $500,000 a month, including income from a 40-acre ranch in California.
The boxing icon and rival Evander Holyfield have also launched a cannabis edible product in honor of the famous ear-biting incident that took place in their rematch.
During his last exhibition fight with Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, Tyson surprised many by admitting that he smoked marijuana during the fight.
But he wants to be well prepared for his upcoming fight with YouTube personality Paul, who is 31 years his junior.
The pair have drawn widespread criticism for agreeing to the bout, as Tyson has received health warnings from relevant medical personnel.
However, he has posted footage from training camp with cornerman Rafael Cordeiro to prove his fitness.
He also hit back at his critics, claiming they are “jealous” of the event, for which he is expected to pocket a tidy $20 million purse.
Tyson's professional career came to an end in 2005 after losing three of his last four fights, and he will be hoping that another heartbreaking blow from Paul doesn't end his career.
