Officials said the $150,000 grant comes from the Animal Welfare Fund, which is funded by taxpayers who choose to contribute to the fund when filing their taxes.
Officials said the money will be used to fund spay and neuter programs, educate on proper animal care, train staff and provide tools to maintain animal health throughout the community. That's what it means.
Officials say the agency has distributed the copies to more than 305 animal shelters since 2010.
“Over the past several years, MDARD has seen a steady increase in not only the number of shelters applying for Animal Welfare Fund grants, but also the amount of funding requested,” said Nora Weinland, state veterinarian. Ta.. ”Grants are making a tremendous positive impact on Michigan's animals and the people who care for them.
