Mercer Health's Mercer County Community Hospital was recently named one of the top 20 rural and regional hospitals in the country by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). NRHA rankings are based on ratings from the Chartis Center for Rural Health Performance INDEX, the most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. The top 20 local and regional hospital rankings are based on eight metrics: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, costs, charges, and finances.
More than 800 hospitals in the United States are included in the local and regional hospital category, with the top 20 hospitals representing the top 2.5% of hospitals in the country. Mercer Health's Mercer County Community Hospital is the only hospital in Ohio on the list.
Mercer Health has been named among the top 100 rural and regional hospitals six times since the performance measure's inception in 2016, including in 2016 and in 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2024 .
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Mercer Health to deliver the best possible results to our patients,” said Lisa Klenke, CEO of Mercer Health. “I am extremely proud of the Mercer Health family. In a letter to the Mercer Health team, Mr. Klenke further expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying: Your unwavering dedication to providing excellent care, innovative solutions, and compassionate service stands out. This recognition reflects the outstanding efforts and contributions of our entire team, from frontline providers and staff to support personnel and leaders. Being named a Top 20 Hospital is a great honor, but with it comes a responsibility to continue striving for excellence in everything we do. Thank you for your extraordinary work, your passion for serving others, and your commitment to making Mercer Health a beacon of hope and healing in our community. ”
