Whether it's melting gooey dark chocolate, a steaming cup of espresso, or a wet ground with petrichor in the air after the first rain, the color brown can evoke vivid and fascinating thoughts. And it looks like celebs, both internationally and domestically, are finally ready to welcome this warm color, which is commonly associated with strength and authenticity.
Seen through an international lens
Recently, actor Sidney Sweeney stepped out on the streets of New York, USA, wearing a monochromatic brown look. She was wearing a long brown leather trench jacket. She was wearing a brown miniskirt, camel-colored turtleneck, knee-high boots, and stockings. Embracing her earthy tones, she also opted for the latter style of makeup, which became hugely popular on social media last year.
From singer and actor Ariana Grande imitating a chocolate bar in a head-to-toe brown fit while out and about in New York, USA, to the hooded dress trend wearing Valentino's custom brown sequin dress during a promotional tour for a movie Up to the actor Florence who jumps to the scene. Her new film was shown in London. The hood was custom-made by designer Pierpaolo Piccioli for actors who use method dressing.
Singers Megan Thee Stallion and Victoria Monet both show off color diversity in figure-hugging dresses. At the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, singer Miley Cyrus wore a custom Gucci sequin dress by designer Sabato de Sarno, paired with a Gucci Bamboo 1947 handbag and Gucci Signoria pumps.
Brown: a luxurious color
According to designer Neha Mehra, brown is a “luxury color.” As she says, this color is accepted worldwide. “We're seeing a shift towards natural, earthy elements. They've always been considered classic and neutral in the fashion world. They're very easy to style in a variety of ways and can add warmth to any outfit. It is something that can be done.”
Back home, actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra wore a thigh-high, one-shoulder brown leather dress by House of CB during a press tour for a project, while actor Alia Bhatt wore Gaurav Gupta straight from Paris Haute Couture Week. She wore a haute couture dress. The runway featured a corset top and cage skirt with rosettes, another fan favorite of the season. Meanwhile, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan wore a draped skirt and blazer set by Arohi.
Styling is the key
If you want to incorporate this color palette into your wardrobe, try adding a hint of chocolate brown through a leather skirt like actor Khushi Kapoor's or a trench jacket like actor Sweeney Sidney.
For a model-like off-duty look, wear a blue denim skirt, white shirt, and add a brown tote leather bag. Just as you match your shoes, belt, and watch to your bag, match your accessories in the same tone.
“To enhance the look of espresso brown, choose a monochromatic style. You can also pair this color with neutrals like beige or white for a sophisticated feel,” says designer Kaushal. Goenka says, adding, “Accessorize with gold or bronze jewelry to complement the warmth of color.”
