HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Pets are looking for furry homes across the Tennessee Valley, and it's not just dogs and cats this week.
This week we feature two special pets from The Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS). Meet Nibbles and Gerbil the gerbils!
Introducing Timon, Pumba and Zara! News 19's Adoptable Pets of the Week
The two small, fluffy rodents are a close-knit pair, and the shelter says they get along very well. Gerbils are highly social animals, so they usually live in bonded pairs or small groups, which is why they are often adopted together.
GHHS said the animals were able to tolerate some handling, but had never attempted to bite. If you're interested in adopting the pair, the humane organization suggests reading more about their specific needs here.
The shelter will also include a 20-gallon tank as part of the installation.
Let's meet Suga next!
According to GHHS, Suga has found her forever home since coming to the shelter with her friend Quinn, and now it's her turn. People at the shelter say she gets a little insecure when she meets new people, but once she cries out and takes a little sniff, she quickly warms up.
Suga is potty trained and even knows how to sit. GHHS officials don't know if she'll get along well with cats, but she said she gets along well with other dogs.
If you are interested in adopting Suga, please visit the GHHS website here or call (256) 881-8081.
