Suspect arrested after making violent threats against Birmingham business
Birmingham police detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect who made violent threats against a Birmingham business on Facebook. The investigation was started by Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Around 7:30 p.m., South Precinct police officers were dispatched to the Upside Down Plaza Bar, 2012 Magnolia Avenue, after staff reported a person had threatened to “shoot up” on social media.
Officers arrived on scene and spoke with Upside Down Plaza staff. Staff said they learned of an individual making threats of violence against people at the scene. Staff informed officers that the individual had been banned from the bar in the days prior to this incident.
Patrol officers observed social media posts and completed a report on the incident. Patrol officers also contacted the Felony Assault Unit to investigate the threat.
The same day, Detective Felony Assault contacted the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.

Deandre Jones, (27), B/M, of Gardendale, Alabama..
upon Wednesday, January 24, 2024BPD's Crime Reduction Team arrested DeAndre Jones in Trussville, Alabama.
Patrol officers transported DeAndre Jones to BPD Headquarters where he was interviewed by Felony Assault Detectives. Officers transported Jones to the Jefferson County Jail.
DeAndre Jones is being held in the Jefferson County Jail. $15,000 security deposit.
