McLeod Health Cheraw recently purchased 10 Stryker iBeds and iBed Vision software for its medical-surgical department. The McLeod team and Stryker are collaborating on fall prevention efforts and plan to have the iBed system operational in late February.
iBed's work improves patient and caregiver safety and reduces falls, while also helping nurses improve workflow efficiency. The iBed connects to the hospital's calling system and the patient's electronic medical record (EMR). Data from the iBed software is uploaded directly to the patient's EMR.
During hospitalization, all patients are assessed for fall risk. Falls assessment data is entered into each patient's electronic medical record. iBed automatically adjusts appropriate fall prevention protocols based on the assessment, ensuring a safer patient experience. iBed also allows clinical staff to monitor bed configuration and terminate alarm actions in real time.
“Our top priority is to provide safe, high-quality care to each and every patient,” said Dan Allen, chief nursing officer at McLeod Health Cherow. “iBed's work plays a critical role in protecting patients from preventable harm while in the hospital. Utilizing this cutting-edge technology not only improves staff efficiency, but also improves patient It also allows us to improve outcomes and optimize the patient experience.”
