Manchester United staff have been concerned about Marcus Rashford's “partying lifestyle” since the autumn of 2021, according to sources.
Concerns were raised that the star might enjoy a night out drinking or holding a loud house party with friends.
Wayne Rooney himself faced a difficult period in his career, but decided to get in touch with his former teammate.
The Sun understands that Reds legends David Beckham and Rio Ferdinand have also been in contact.
Their intervention comes after Old Trafford bosses became concerned about a series of worrying allegations about England international Rashford's behavior.
The Sun then reported that Rashford trained for 12 hours in Belfast last week and was taken ill for training on Friday.

The player was ruled out of Sunday's 4-2 FA Cup win over Newport and will be fined two weeks' worth of his £325,000-a-week salary.
He expressed remorse for his actions during a tense meeting with manager Erik ten Hag and United's director of football, John Murtagh, on Monday.
The club have announced that the matter has now been resolved and he will be considered for selection against Wolves tomorrow.
But previous alarm bells included Rashford's relationship with fans – usually rock-solid given his status as an academy graduate.
His team found themselves in trouble after clashing with supporters who criticized his performance in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford.
He is said to have retorted to the fan: “Who do you think you are, you idiot? Go behind my back and say it to my face.” He later denied it.
Rooney, like Rashford, suddenly found himself in the public eye as a teenager, but he was happy to help.

Rooney, who had by then retired and was managing Derby County, contacted Rashford by phone.
He gave him words of encouragement and made it clear that he was always available should Rashford need advice.
Rashford spoke in a 2023 interview with Gary Neville about how grateful he was for Rooney's support.
He said: “I always think about how I can help other players the way some players helped me.
“I feel like I’m in the right position and doing something to really help them in the early stages of their careers. As much as I love Wazza, I also love guiding them in the right direction. That's what I'm trying to do. [Rooney]Colors [Michael Carrick]fan [Juan Mata] Everything pointed me in the right direction. ”

Another source said, “Marcus loves nightlife, but what worries him is that he's doing it too much.'' His house had become a party house. ”
What made him even more upset was when his unstable relationship with his childhood friend and girlfriend Lucia Roy, 25, broke down.

A source said: “Lucia is a normal girl and has known Marcus since before he was born, so she's great for him.” moneycar and jewelry.
“If you flip his character around, he's not very confident with women and has the same insecurities that most people have.”
Another problem weighing on Rashford these days is providing for his large family.
He is very close to brothers Dwayne and Dane, so much so that they live in a mansion on the same street with their mother Melanie.
But those relationships were put to the test in October when Dane was arrested on suspicion of assault while on vacation in Miami with his partner.

A source said: “Marcus loves his entire family dearly, but he is exhausted.''
Rashford has also bought property for his large family, but some people expect him to provide more for them, adding to his stress levels.
The source added: “Marcus is really struggling. Anyone who cares about him needs to step up and start helping him instead of expecting the opposite outcome.
“He may be a wealthy footballer, but he's a young man who's lost his way. The sooner he finds it, the better.”
