The Loma Linda University School of Health's 51st Annual Fine Arts Festival (FAF) will feature a series of visual, written, and musical events from April 22 to June 3. Each presentation aims to explain how a key part of “making a complete human being” is fostering the creative side. We feature the talent of LLUH students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Festival organizers believe the breadth and depth of talent in the Loma Linda area is remarkable and deserving of the community's support. This year's event includes visual, musical, and literary arts. All of these are presented in important ways that share the God-given creativity that so many are blessed to possess.
Loma Linda Art Exhibition (April 22nd – June 3rd)
The official Loma Linda Art Exhibition opens on Monday, April 22nd and runs through Monday, June 3rd. Both the Loma Linda Civic Center (next to Loma Linda City Hall) and the LLU Drayson Center will have photography, paintings and mixed media on display during the exhibition. At that time. We will be accepting up to three entries at the Civic Center on Monday, April 22nd from 12pm to 4pm.
Festival Recital and Excellence Award Program (April 14th)
Top young talent from the Loma Linda community, ages 7 to 18, will participate in a series of recitals held at Loma Linda's Romanian Church. Performances will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Performers are students who have achieved commendable scores on the California Music Teacher Merit Assessment in musical performance, technique, reading, ear training, and theory.
Sacred Choir Festival with 8 choirs and 200 voices (April 20th)
Members of eight choirs in the Inland Empire region combine to form a 200-voice collective choir. Many of the choir members are also LLUH students, faculty, or staff. Participating Seventh-day Adventist Church choirs include Azure Hills Church, Loma Linda Indonesia Church, Loma Linda Romanian Church, Inland Empire Filipino Church, Kansas Avenue Church, and Christian Edition Men's Choir. .
The Sacred Choir Festival will be held at Loma Linda Chinese Church on Saturday, April 20th from 4:00 p.m.
Loma Linda has talent! (May 4th)
Loma Linda's Got Talent, modeled after the hit TV show “America's Got Talent,” will feature students, faculty, employees, residents and more from LLU's various schools during its 100th anniversary celebration on Saturday, May 4, at 7 p.m. focuses on sharing their talents. Damazo amphitheater complex.
Poetic Voice (May 8th)
Five years ago, Michael Orlich, a physician and faculty member at Loma Linda University, started Poetic Voices, a group where poets and their fans meet monthly to share their poems. On Wednesday, May 8th, Poetic Voices will be joining his FAF 2024 to present the work of poets from all backgrounds. In the past, up to 150 poets and friends have attended one of his events.
“Poetic Voices” will be held on May 8th at 7pm in room 3208 of the Centennial Complex on the LLU campus.
Agnes of God (May 11/12 and 18/19)
The festivities began with “Agnes of God,” a dramatic piece created by playwright John Pillmeier, which tells the story of a dramatic story between an angelic nun, a suspicious Mother Superior, and an anti-ecclesiastical psychiatrist. It depicts tension. They work together to protect innocent people.
Performances are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 11th and 12th, and May 18th and 19th. Saturday night's program begins at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday's program begins at 2:00 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the performers after the performance on May 18th. Agnes of God performances will be held at the Damaso Amphitheater in the Centennial Complex on the Loma Linda University Health Campus.
Loma Linda University Church Spring Concert (May 18th)
Loma Linda University Church's Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra will come together to present their annual Spring Concert in the church's sanctuary on Saturday, May 18th at 5 p.m. This year's theme is “Then Sings My Soul” and is dedicated to “The God of All Creation.”
