WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Wichita Falls businesses and fire departments are preparing to send aid to the Panhandle to help with the Panhandle Fire.
Foundation KIA's platform director says he wants Texas communities to help in any way they can.
They do so by opening businesses as drop-off points for food, water, essentials, and more.
“That's what Texans do. We all come together and help each other,” said Brad Rodger, Platform Director, Foundation Automotive.
The largest wildfires in Texas history are raging across the Panhandle, raising awareness of the need for resources to assist those affected.
One company that recognized that need is Foundation Auto.
Platform Director Brad Rogers says their resources will allow them to provide assistance.
“I haven't heard of anyone else in Wichita Falls doing anything together, so I felt like we needed to get the ball rolling,” Rodgers said.
The company will also prepare vehicles to transport donations to disaster-stricken areas.
If you would like to help, Rogers mentions some of the items he is looking for.
“Water, first aid supplies, non-perishable food items. I think something like Powerade would be helpful for drink related items. Diapers for children, first aid supplies for animals, etc. are in demand. That's very important for this country. I think so,” Rogers said.
The Wichita Falls Fire Department is sending firefighters to assist in the battle.
More than 100 strike teams from across the state are currently being sent to the Panhandle.
“To answer the question of what do they need? Because we're so busy right now. It's hard to determine what they need most other than putting out the fire,” Wichita Falls Fire Department Chief. Donald Hughes said.
“Let's come together as a family here in Texas and bring hope to the Texas Panhandle,” Rogers said.
Foundation Automotive accepts donations daily.
From 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, except Sundays.
Donations are being accepted until next Wednesday.
Here is a list of items you can donate: snacks, water, drinks, non-perishable food, hygiene supplies, first aid supplies, pet supplies, blankets, diapers, wipes, baby formula, totes, bags, backpacks, calf milk. Alternatives to burn ointment, vet warp.
