The Redwood Area Audubon Society will host free guided field trips at the Arcata Wetland Wildlife Refuge from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Bird watching walk
The Redwood Area Audubon Society will host a birdwatching walk in southern Humboldt on Saturday.
This walk includes 2-3 miles of gentle walking through riverbanks, meadows and mixed hardwood forest. In winter, white and golden sparrows are abundant, and year-round birds such as Lincoln's sparrow, northern harrier and Wilson's sandpiper, as well as jays, spruce and woodpeckers, and several species of raptors can be observed. there is.

Humboldt Grange No. 501 will be serving breakfast “the fourth Saturday of the month” from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Grange Hall, 5845 Humboldt Hill Road, Eureka.
The menu includes two types of scrambled eggs, sausage and biscuits, gravy, or all-you-can-eat pancakes. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juice are also available. Breakfast costs $10 for a large portion and $5 for a small portion. Children under 5 eat free.

Redwood Area Audubon Society and trip leader Ken Barton offer a half-day trip to the Humboldt Bay South Sandbar on Sunday.
This largely treeless peninsula contains bay and marine habitats. Everyone will be looking for a variety of species including Tundra Swans, Black-bellied Grebes, Red-necked Grebes, Sandpipers, Barn Owls and more. This is primarily a road trip and includes short walks on sand or other soft ground.
