LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. — It's a love story, tell me, Travis?
A small business attending Lee's Summit has read the lyrics to one of Taylor Swift's most iconic songs countless times.
KC Swagger is one of countless area restaurants and businesses that are finding economic stimulation by creating and selling all things red and gold.
And when the Chiefs make the playoffs, it's a really fun time to be in Kansas City.
KC Swagger is a women-owned and operated apparel company. This was Gina Sabel's realization of a dream she first started in her basement in 2015.
Now, nine years later, Sabel, her best friend Sara Lee, and the rest of the staff are in a 2,000-square-foot warehouse.
“This industry, screen printing, is definitely a male-dominated industry, so being run by a woman and having an all-female workforce is something that sets us apart a little bit and we're very proud of it. ” said Seibel.
They created a “Love Story” line of clothing with t-shirt or crewneck options for the Kansas Cityans' playoff run by channeling Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship.
“The design of Love Story turned out to be so much more than we could have ever imagined. 'Love Story' is obviously a very popular Taylor Swift song. And of course we gave Travis the voice So his number is 87, and I tried to choose a font that resembled the beads you see on friendship bracelets.”
As the Chiefs prepare for Baltimore, KC Swagger has been preparing for an increased order.
Demand is so high that the company has started reordering the design for the third time this month.
“It's so much fun to celebrate such a positive love story. To see the person playing the role of Travis, to support her as much as he does, and for her to come out and support him, I think it's great that love It’s a perfect example of what it should be like,” Seibel said.
KC Swagger is still accepting orders for the “Love Story” design.
