Kennesaw, Georgia – Local police are helping find new owners for the dogs and cats. Kennesaw police have been taking photos with animals from the Mostly Mutts Animal Shelter and posting them on social media.
“We brought in a number of police officers to play and interact with the dogs. [We] We got their information and posted it on social media with the goal of getting them all hired,'' said Officer David Buchanan.
The rescue center is home to many animals in need of forever homes. The more people know about them, the more likely they are to get hired.
“They wanted to start this new initiative where we could leverage the power of social media to give these dogs exposure and hopefully get them in the right eyes and get adopted.” said Sarah Rylander of Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue.
This new business is as much about helping the animals as it is about helping the police.
“It's mutually beneficial. It's good therapy for police officers who go through the traumatic situations that we have to deal with, and it's great for getting animals to interact with police officers and people in uniform.” ,” said Officer Buchanan.
It's been about a week since Kennesaw Police posted the photo of the dog and cat, and there's already some good news.
“Three animals were adopted, one dog and two cats. Our goal is to give these animals the homes they deserve,” said Officer Buchanan.
