Manager Jurgen Klopp described Liverpool's performance as “absolutely insane” and praised “the kids” for their role in the Carabao Cup final victory.
The match was scored by Virgil van Dijk just before the end of extra time.the player who made an effort during normal play was ruled out for offside.
Chelsea tried their best for most of the game, but Described as a “blue billion pound bottle job” by Gary Neville in extra time.
Manager Klopp said he was “very proud” of his players and explained why the new academy graduates have been “painful” in training.
He told Sky Sports: “What happened here tonight is absolutely insane.
“This can't happen, what a unique academy, I can't believe what happened here.
“I’m so proud to be a part of it, it’s amazing. We deserve it, we had our lucky moments, they had their lucky moments, and the boys showed up, That was really cool.
“When we brought in all the kids, I’m sure people thought, ‘That’s it, we’ve given up, we have a game on Wednesday,’ but that wasn’t the case.
“We thought we needed fresh legs, and those fresh legs were fresh but very young. They did the job.
“This is an environment that we have created and the players have been training with us for a long time so they know exactly what they have to do.
“Training when you have 11-on-11 time is honestly painful! That's how it should be at this moment, and that's how it was today!”
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted losing in the final was “very painful” but hopes his team can learn from the game.
He told Sky Sports:
“We lost in the final minutes of the game and it hurt a lot. Now we just have to stay positive, keep moving forward, push and use these types of games to learn and do better.
“We lose in the final because we need to be flexible in front of the goal and we need to score goals, but we concede.''
