Jets and Lady Jets dominate Central Georgia Tech in conference matchup

USA – The South Georgia Tech Jets and Lady Jets dominated the Central Georgia Tech Titans and Lady Titans in Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Conference action over the weekend. The Jets won 79-66 and are tied for third place.rd Register with GCAA. The Lady Jets won 63-55 and are currently in fourth place.th At a conference.
The Lady Jets had lost twice this season to Central Georgia Tech in Macon. They lost the opener 74-59 and then 67-65, but came back Saturday with a 63-55 victory.
“It's good to get back on a winning track,” said SGTC athletic director and Lady Jets head coach Jason Carpenter, who suffered back-to-back conference losses to East Georgia Tech and Central Georgia Tech last week.
The East Georgia Lady Bobcats currently sit atop the conference with a 6-0 record. Albany Tech is second at 5-2 and Central is third at 5-2 and 8-10.
On Saturday, the Lady Jets built an 18-7 lead against Central Georgia Tech in the first quarter and extended that lead in the second quarter to take a 30-17 lead at halftime. Central Georgia Tech continued to dominate in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Jets 19-12 and cutting the lead to 42-36 at the end of 30 minutes of play. The Lady Jets persisted in the fourth quarter, eventually clinching a stunning 63–56 victory.
For the Lady Jets, freshman guard Mio Sakano led the way with 15 points, scoring in double digits. Sophomores Isabel de Souza Bueno and Maeva Foza were close behind with 14 points each. Fozza had a double-double night with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Vera Gneidin was another Lady Jet who scored in double figures with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Rounding out the Lady Jets' scoring on the night were Mari Favero and Greta Carollo each with three points, Enola Papan with two and Maria Diaz with one.
Following an exciting victory by the Lady Jets, the Jets improved to 4-1 and 10-7 with a 79-66 victory over the Central Georgia Tech Titans.
The Jets led by as many as 21 points early in the first half (26-5) and led 49-30 by halftime. SGTC increased their lead to 23 points (60-37), and the Titans came back to cut the deficit to 79-66 by the final buzzer.
Freshman guard Kamarion Johnson from Brunswick was the Jets' leading scorer with 22 points. He was 2 of 3 from the 3-point line and 2 of 3 from the foul line. He also made seven other shots from the field. Sophomore guard Deonte Williams was the only Jet to score in double figures with 14 points. He went 6-of-7 from the field and 2-of-6 from the foul line.
Sophomore forward Ryan Jussa scored nine points and Justin Evans added seven points on the night. Kameron Forman, Harley Kent and Mohand Ahmad each had five points, while Vaughn Prosser and Jalen Woods each added four points. Israel Momodu and Darryl Bod each scored two points for the shutout.
The Lady Jets will host Southern Crescent Technical College tonight (Monday) in a conference matchup at the Hangar starting at 5:30 p.m. Both the Jets and Lady Jets will be on the road for the next two weeks.
