Georgia is targeting a number of coveted prospects in the state for the 2025 cycle, but few are more important than the elite defensive linemen. isiah gibson and Elijah Griffin.
While Griffin has been on the radar of schools across the country for more than a year, Gibson has exploded into attention in recent months. In his latest On300 rankings, he jumped to No. 24 nationally and is now ranked as a top 25 recruit across multiple services.
The in-state Bulldogs have been eyeing him for some time, and all signs point to UGA being the leading candidate in the race to land him. The latest are his two expert predictions released by his DawgsHQ.com insiders Jake Reuse and Jake Rower on Tuesday.
“You hear names like Oklahoma and Oregon a lot in connection with this recruitment, but he was especially talkative about the Sooners during his stay at Under Armor camp in Carrollton. Still, he talked about all the other options. However, it was hard to ignore the Georgia windbreaker and slider he sported,” Reuse wrote in his prediction.
…I don't usually pay much attention to what they're wearing, but this shocked me. Gibson is familiar with Georgia's staff, has been able to get to Athens with some frequency early in his recruitment, and fills a big need for the Dawgs as a potential EDGE or 5-tech depending on how he fills in. “I'm here”
Bulldog had a big influence on Gibson
Just two hours from Athens, Gibson has had the opportunity to visit UGA many times and see the culture that Kirby Smart & Co. has built. NFL development and on-field success certainly doesn't hurt either.
“I think this is the way the players are, I was around them too, one of the players from my school went there, and the way everything has to be perfect there. It should be that way everywhere. I think everything has to be perfect,” he said. “This school is really great to me. It's an SEC school and it feels like a junior league to get to the NFL. I really love everything about the coaching staff.”
That love is certainly felt in the bond he has formed with Georgia outside linebackers coach Cidera Uzo-Diribe.
“He has a lot of energy and a deep love for his family,” Gibson said. “He just went on vacation to Miami with his wife, so he always has good energy and we talk about things other than football. It's just life in general. It's always fun when we talk. Actually, before… I talked to him (at the Under Armor camp) and he told me, 'Show up and show me.'
In addition to UGA, Clemson, Oregon and Oklahoma are among the schools Gibson is expected to take official visits this summer before making a decision.
