Pet of the Week – Introducing Bohdan

Hello, my name is Bodan! You might not be able to tell from this “selfie” I chose for this week's pet photo, but I'm only one year old and already a big boy. That's because I'm a purebred Polish Tatra Sheepdog that weighs about 130 pounds in full size and stands over 2 feet tall. At my current age and weight (approximately 95 pounds), I am well on my way to reaching the breed's full size potential. But don't let my polar bear features scare you away. In reality, I'm just a big baby who loves nothing more than the chance to cuddle with kind-hearted humans. I feel lucky with the new and friendly people I have met since coming to the shelter, but my greatest wish this Valentine's season is to find someone who will be mine. Can you help me point Cupid's arrow at the perfect person for me?
In addition to being a top-notch cuddler, I want my next person to be aware of my size and able to safely manage it with fences, fear-free, fun training, etc. My upbringing did not provide me with as much learning or socialization as I would have liked. So I hope that people in my future will agree with me that these are important things to value in our lives and that we can work on them together moving forward! Speaking of learning, did you know that Polish Tatras are considered livestock guardian dogs and as such will spend a large portion of their lives working? If you do, the puppy will gladly take the place of its ancestor.
Whether my next chapter is filled with building my own career or “early retirement,” I can only hope that it is filled with love. So, lots of love! I promise to give you everything I have. I hope you can return the favor and show me what this coveted adoption love is like.
