LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The International Home Builders Show is back in Las Vegas and will be held here.
“The show has gotten this big, and really only Las Vegas can captivate us,” said Jim Tobin, president and CEO of the National Association of Home Builders Show.
Starting in 2027, the show will now only be held in Las Vegas. The 2025 show will be held here and the 2026 show will be held in Orlando, Florida.
The show attracts tens of thousands of visitors and hundreds of exhibitors. This year is expected to be the biggest tournament since 2009.
“We're at shows like this because this is where builders are. But builders are using technology and technology to help them sell homes faster and for more money. We're bringing our products into homes,” Diaco founder and CEO Derek Richardson explained.
His smart lighting systems for new construction and renovations make it easy to replace switches, control lights on and off, and combine with security systems.
“Think of Kevin expertly turning the lights on and off in the classic 'Home Alone' movie. That's something you can easily do with an automated system,” Richardson said.
He added that the best way to deter criminals from breaking into your home is to make it feel like the house is occupied, and lighting systems can do that.
Tobin said the biggest thing at this year's conference is artificial intelligence, and that's just the beginning of understanding its uses.
“Technology is becoming more and more a part of our homes. Light switches are run from iPads or motion sensors. Security is becoming paramount,” he explained.
The show runs through Thursday and is estimated to have a multibillion-dollar impact on the local economy.
