IndyHumane loaded up the Winchester Animal Shelter with missing pet food and supplies.
WINCHESTER, Ind. — Hundreds of volunteers continue to clean up tornado damage in Randolph County, and relief supplies have arrived at one of the local animal shelters.
IndyHumane loaded a load of pet food and supplies that were in short supply at the Winchester/Randolph County Animal Shelter.
“Over the past few days, we have distributed over 100 bags, 53 crates and possibly more to people in need,” said shelter director Aaron Orr.
But it wasn't just supplies that they provided; several dogs that had been confined at the shelter for some time were brought back to Indianapolis.
“They had a full shelter and when this community was hit by this disaster, they had people waiting for the animals to stay, so we had animals that had been here for a while. We thought it best to bring our community together,” said IndyHumane CEO Donna Casamento.
Mr. Orr goes out every day to look for lost pets, and with this donation he will continue his search.
“We're going to do everything we can to make sure they're all returned to their owners, and I'm not going to stop until we can do that,” he said. “I posted that my phone rings 24/7. I don't care if it's 3 a.m. I'll make sure I get out and find that pet.”
