Veteran executive Matt Sommer has been named chief technology officer at Dallas-based Imaginuity, a fully integrated traditional and digital marketing agency.
Imaginuity said Mr. Sommer has spent 25 years leading many important aspects of managing and growing organizations, including driving innovation, developing and disseminating product vision, and leveraging data and analytics.
“As our first chief engineer, we were looking for an executive with both the vision and experience to meet this moment,” CEO Taylor Calise said in a statement. “At a time when there was so much attention on artificial intelligence and others were still panicking about Y2K, Matt was researching and understanding AI.”
Calise believes marketing technology is at a “historic inflection point” and that the new chief engineer is “uniquely poised to not only meet this inflection point, but accelerate it further.” thinking about.
Most recently, Sommer was the owner of Emergent Systems, a consulting firm that helps develop and implement applied generative AI solutions with a focus on data transformation.
Previously, Sommer was CEO and co-founder of MarketChorus. MarketChorus is a software platform that uses machine learning and natural language processing to understand people according to the content they consume.
For the real estate market, Imaginuity uses AI to identify events, activities, and attractions that match potential renters' interests in real time, driving high-affinity traffic directly to owners' properties. We said we created the first advertising technology tool built to guide.
Leverage technology to “move your business forward”
Imaginuity “has the people and technology to grow effectively and find new ways to get more value from our data and technology platforms,” Sommer said in a statement. He believes that if technology is playing its role in marketing, “we shouldn't even know it's there.”
While other institutions are “scrambling to catch up with tools like analytics and AI,” Imaginuity already understands the science and “is committed to creating value by skillfully applying it.” “We are working on it,” the newly appointed chief engineer said. He emphasized that the company doesn't use the tools for their own sake, but because they understand how to use them to “drive the business forward.”
Prior to MarketChorus, Sommer was vice president of research and development and co-founder of Engenium, where he led the creation of a conceptual search engine. Sommer is also a senior researcher at both Avalon Data Systems and Raytheon, and as an AI researcher and engineer, he developed neural network-based speech and language classifiers for advanced digital signal processing applications.
Sommer holds 10 U.S. patents for inventions in text analysis, information retrieval, sentiment analysis, document clustering, audience analysis, and advertising targeting.
Imaginuity, which has more than 30% of its workforce dedicated to technology-related roles, said it envisions ways to make marketing smarter through data and technology.
