CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – As it prepares for next week's Holiday of Love, one local animal shelter is waiving admission fees for animals with “lonely hearts.”
On February 14, the Chattanooga Humane and Educational Society (HES) announced that it will offer free adoptions to animals that have been in its care for more than 90 days.
In honor of Valentine's Day, all other pet adoption fees will be just $14.
HES currently has 27 Lonely Heart animals in our facility or in foster care that are eligible for free adoption on Valentine's Day.
HES Community Outreach Education Manager Janine Cloyd said: “They have been here for over three months so we really want people to consider our lonely hearts.” said. “It's time for them to find eternal love.”
The shelter hopes to bring much-needed love and attention to its longest-serving animals.
“We are a fantastic shelter.'' Chris Atib, Director of Development at HES, said: “Our Counseling Adoption Team will help you find the perfect animal for your home. To do.”
The longest-serving resident, Arizona, has been in care for more than 1,000 days.
For the rest of this month, adoption fees for all animals except puppies will be just $29.
