San Diego Humane Society helps pets after flash floods (KSWB)
SAN DIEGO — The San Diego County Humane Society is helping residents and their furry friends affected by the winter storm and flash flooding on Jan. 22 by housing pets and providing pet food to pets and their families in need. We are supporting this by providing the following.
There are currently nine dogs, seven birds and one rabbit at the Lincoln High School Temporary Pet Shelter set up by the San Diego Humane Society and the American Red Cross.
Humane police officers and emergency response teams will be visiting some of the hardest-hit areas this weekend, including Southcrest, Mountain View, Logan Heights and Shelltown, where they will be searching for pets left behind after the floods. We provide assistance and pet food to owners.
If you left your pet behind during a flood and can't return, if you can't keep your pet on your property due to damage, mold, or other problems, or if you can't find your pet after a flood, Storm, the Humane Society can help. I think I want to do.
Call the San Diego Humane Society's Dispatch at 619-299-7012 for assistance.
Temporary animal shelters are open seven days a week and provide limited supplies and resources such as pet food.
Foster families are now hoping to take in some of the evacuated pets until they can be reunited with their owners. For more information, visit sdhumane.org/foster.
Donations of dog food, leashes, collars, and slip leads are needed. You can donate to pets in need at sdhumane.org/support-us/ways-to-give/wish-list.
