HELENA — Helena Business Improvement District Executive Director John Dendy announced Thursday that he is resigning from the organization.
According to an email from the BID, he has accepted a position to manage energy efficiency programs, which is Dendy's previous career path.
“It is an honor to serve as the BID’s Executive Director. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know business and property owners, the Board of Directors, city staff and commissioners, and other organizational partners. Director In collaboration with the Society, we have made great strides in beautification, publicity and advocacy efforts,” Dendy wrote in the release.
The BID runs several programs downtown, from summer flower baskets to downtown trash cans and graffiti removal. They recently merged with Downtown Helena Incorporated after the organization disbanded.
Mr Dendy will serve in the role until early April and said he would work with the board to ensure the BID was left in a good position for the next director.

The BID has made progress on several fronts over the past year. continues through our dedicated employees and the BID Board of Directors,” said BID Board Chair Seth Brandenberger.
The City of Helena established a Business Improvement District in 1986. Funding for that program comes from special assessments collected from property owners in the district.
