Supermarket shoppers are reeling from news that Australia's iconic candy has been quietly withdrawn from stores across the country.
Juicy Fruit chewing gum, which has been sold in Australia for 131 years, has been removed from sale, it has been revealed.
In the claims aired on 2GB's Ben Fordham Show, it was revealed that Juicy Fruit is undergoing a major overhaul and will not be in stores until later this year in a completely new format.

A source working at the factory that produces Juicy Fruit told Fordham that the original recipe is now out of production and that when the chewing gum returns in mid-2024, it will be sugar-free and without the famous hard shell. Told.
A spokesperson for Mars Wrigley confirmed there are upcoming changes to Juicy Fruit.
“We are currently working on an exciting new development for this range, which will be available to Australian consumers from June this year,” a spokesperson told 2GB.
“While we work on this development, there may be inventory shortages in some areas of the country, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our consumers.”

TikTok star Las Sweets told the radio station it was a sad day for many Australians who grew up with Juicy Fruit.
“To put it into perspective, humans got Juicy Fruit before Ford radios,” he says.
Furthermore, he added: “The problem is, people who want the original Juicy Fruit don't want it sugar-free. Hardcore Juicy Fruiters don't want it sugar-free, that's my opinion.”
