Leaders of Harvard University Health Services warned Harvard affiliates in an email Tuesday to take extra precautions amid rising cases of the respiratory illness.
The email was co-signed by HUHS Director Jean T. Nguyen, Counseling and Mental Health Services Director Barbara Lewis, and Vice President for Student Affairs Robin Glover, and was issued by the Centers for Disease Control. Recent data notes that Massachusetts is now “reported to have high levels.” Levels of respiratory illnesses such as influenza, COVID-19, and RSV. ”
In the email, HUHS also announced the American University Health Association – National Survey, a survey aimed at collecting data and analyzing behavioral, health, and wellness issues such as substance use, sexual health, and mental health. We also announced our participation in the College Health Assessment (NCHA). , sleep habits, exercise and nutrition—for graduate and undergraduate students.
Students will receive an email from Mr. Nguyen through NHCA on Monday, February 26th with a link to the survey. This email will be available for viewing until his Friday, March 8th.
According to HUHS, “The results will help universities develop their teaching and tailor services to further support the needs of their students.”
The email included mental health resources provided by HUHS, including in-person and telehealth sessions through Counseling and Mental Health Services. Late last month, HUHS removed limits on the number of CAMHS appointments students can make under their student health insurance plan.
