Danish lifestyle content creator Ida Augusta has shared a travel hack that allows people holding flyers to comfortably view them without having to hold their phone. However, this tip has not been well received by social media users.
“Did you know?” Augusta captioned a November TikTok that has more than 2.8 million views.
In the 10-second clip, Augusta boards a Norwegian Air flight with a friend. As they walk toward their seats, Augusta flips his cover over the headrest of the seat in front of him and drapes it over the back of the seat.
She takes her phone out of its case and places it on the fabric of her headrest. She attaches her phone case from the back of her fabric, so she can use her cover on someone else's headrest to view her phone hands-free.
This “selfish” travel hack made many people uncomfortable.
They pointed out that this fabric is to protect the flyer from dust, dirt, and moisture on the sheet.
“Plane hacking: the selfish version,” one disgruntled person commented. “Those red ones are from the front seat. They are not yours to receive.”
“Why not ask someone before you touch the designated items,” added another.
“That’s just rude! It’s pretty unsanitary and I don’t want a cell phone either. [where] It was someone’s hair, sweat, etc.,” someone else declared.
“What if they pull it back and your phone goes off,” one joker laughed.
The newspaper has contacted Augusta for comment.
A less controversial way to prop up your phone for in-flight entertainment is to use a vomit bag.
And moms rave about the benefits of bringing painter's tape on planes and car trips to keep kids entertained.
