Google Flights reveals top 20 destinations for summer 2024

It's time to start thinking about summer travel plans.

Whether you want to travel around the world or stay local, Google Flights' list of top summer 2024 destinations has something for everyone.

According to The Points Guy, this list is based on the most searched destinations on Google Flights by travelers in the U.S. for travel between June 1st and August 31st, based on trending, anticipated destinations. It includes many locations, but also some destinations. There are also surprising outliers.

London is the most popular destination for summer 2024, but perhaps surprisingly, Paris, host of the upcoming Summer Olympics, only came in second place.

Tokyo came in 3rd place, moving up from 8th place in 2023.

Rounding out the top five are Rome in fourth place and New York, the first U.S. destination, in fifth place.

Cancun may have been in second place last year, but it won't be as popular in 2024, dropping to sixth place.

Numbers 7, 8, and 9 are all within the United States, with the most travelers searching for Orlando, Las Vegas, and Seattle, respectively.

Athens is in the top 10, but Georgia is not. Greece is a popular travel destination this summer.

Other popular destinations in the United States during the hot season include Los Angeles, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Honolulu, Denver, and Boston.

Madrid and San Juan of Puerto Rico entered the top 20 for the first time in 18th and 20th place, respectively.
