File – August 28, 2018 in Portland, Oregon, the cursor hovers over Google's search engine page. Google search history for 2023 has arrived. Well, of the world, actually. On Monday, December 11, 2023, the California-based tech giant announced a series of events ranging from unforgettable pop culture moments (hello, Babenheimer) to the death of a beloved figure, tragic news that sent ripples around the world. FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The shroud of secrecy has been lifted from an economic development project in Allen County, announced in October 2023, inexplicably named “Project Zodiac.”
As many have speculated, Google is moving forward with plans to build a data center campus on hundreds of acres in the area of East Tillman Road and Adams Center Road. On Friday morning, Google sent an email confirming the plan.
Many obstacles to building data centers have already been overcome. It also includes the annexation of land used for the project.
Google describes its data centers as:
The data center is the engine behind the digital services that power our daily lives, such as Google Search, Gmail, and Maps, as well as the company's ongoing artificial intelligence (AI) innovations.

In December, the Fort Wayne City Council approved a 10-year tax abatement for the property at 5801 Adams Center Road after it was designated an “economic activation area.”
Also in December, the City of Fort Wayne indicated that construction on the project was still months away.
In response to Google's announcement, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb issued the following statement:
I would like to extend a warm welcome to Google and its new data centers to Hoosiers. This is another example of Indiana's momentum reaching every corner of the state. Northeast Indiana has the tools, resources and workforce to support this exciting partnership with Google, especially in an industry so critical to our digitally driven future.
