Georgia Tech returned to the field for spring practice yesterday after a week of spring break. After practice, it was the day special teams spoke to the media, and kicker Aidan Bill was among the group. Bill took over as kicker last season and did a phenomenal job. He will be one of the most prolific return kickers in the ACC and should make Georgia Tech one of its most reliable special teams units this season.
Here's everything from Monday's Birr.
1. As for why he changed his phone number…
“Well, I have a kicking coach at home, and he wore No. 33 in college, and the key coach asked me, like in December, ‘Do you want to change your number? 'And I was like, 'Oh, you know,' '93 is cool, but I'll take your number.' ”
2. What he's working on this spring…
“Henry and David have done a lot of work to get the operating sound. Kickoff was big for me this year. I’ve got faster foot speed so I’m going to work hard to have an even better year next year. is.”
3. On Ricky Brumfield returning as special teams coach…
“This is really great because it means we don't have to worry about new things. I don't think we've had as many special teams coordinators since we've only been here two years, but Brumfield The coach is really good. “He lets us do what we're trying to do. He's not trying to overanalyze everything, so it's really nice to have him.”
4. About how glad the coaches were with him last year…
“Well, I mean, it was a tough year, you know, my senior year, I was out at the end of the year with appendicitis, and then I tore my ACL and came back, and they probably didn't know what I was going to do. I know they're going to fire me, but for them to just follow me and give me a chance in the South Carolina State game, it just felt good. It shows, you know, they really care about you here and that feels good.”
5. How many kicks does he want to make this year…
“I mean, as many times as they put me out there, I want to make them, obviously break the record here. That's the goal. I don't know what the longest time here is. Hmm…I can get anything over 55 and break it.'' That's nice. ”
6. When I see Harrison Butker, I turn on…
“I mean, I watch all the kickers in the NFL, and Harrison Butker, I mean, he's just a beast. Like over the summer, you know, he comes back here and kicks.” I mean, it's like a sledgehammer hitting the ground.'' I mean, he's like, yeah, his kickoff is in the stands or whatever, and when he comes back, I just go out and watch. Just, I don't think he's going to get in his way, and it's great to see a guy like that, you know, he was in my position a few years ago. ”
