LAS VEGAS — Both the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech will be in action in Las Vegas when the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers meet Sunday in Super Bowl XV.
Seven players will represent both universities in this important game, with five from UGA and two from Tech. Three players from both schools play for the Chiefs and four play for the Niners.
The following players will represent Georgia's universities in the Super Bowl:
kansas city chiefs
Harrison Butker – Kicker (Georgia Tech)
Butker, a native of Decatur, Georgia, is no stranger to the Super Bowl. The former Yellow Jacket, who will be making his fourth appearance on Sunday, was a hero for the Chiefs in last year's Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Butker made a 27-yard shot with seconds left, putting the Chiefs ahead.
Mecole Hardman – Wide receiver (Georgia)
Like Butker, his teammate and college rival, Hardman will be playing in his third Super Bowl with the Chiefs. The former UGA wide receiver will also play in his fourth Super Bowl. Hardman started the year with the Jets before being traded back to Kansas City midway through the season.
Malik Herring – Defensive Lineman (Georgia)
Herring signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2021 after winning a national championship and finishing his career at UGA.
san francisco 49ers
Charlie Warner – Tight End (Georgia)
Warner was selected by the 49ers in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and has been with San Francisco ever since. He has three catches for 32 yards this year.
Chris Conley – Wide Receiver (Georgia)
Conley is currently in his ninth season in the NFL and is playing in his first Super Bowl, but he has never faced one before. The former UGA wide receiver was selected by the Chiefs in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Jordan Mason (Georgia Tech)
Mason, who was signed as an undrafted free agent and is in his second season with the 49ers, has been making some noise this season in the backfield behind Christian McCaffrey. He had 206 yards rushing and three touchdowns, as well as one receiving touchdown.
Robert Beale (Georgia)
Beal was a fifth-round pick in last year's draft and is in his first year with the Niners. He has appeared in four games this season.
