Georgia Tech and computer hardware manufacturer NVIDIA are collaborating to give undergraduate students access to an AI supercomputer. Georgia Tech officials have unveiled a new makerspace equipped with 3D printers and a bunch of servers. The school says it is the first of its kind in the United States.
NVIDIA's graphics processing units (GPUs) are used in artificial intelligence programs created by notable companies such as OpenAI, Alphabet, and Meta.
Students can use the AI Makerspace to complete projects related to robotics and supply chain management. Nvidia supports and trains faculty and students through workshops, certifications, and educational kits.
Shanmathi Selvamurugan is a sophomore at Georgia Tech majoring in computer engineering.
“As someone who is very interested in machine learning and artificial intelligence, it is very important for me to apply those skills and contribute to projects that advance technology in the real world,” Selvamurugan said. Masu.
This supercomputer runs on 160 NVIDIA's H100 GPUs. According to Georgia Tech professor Arijit Raychoudhury, who is leading this partnership, in his one of these units it takes 50,000 students about 1 second to solve his 22-year multiplication function. .

This first phase is open only to students, but officials hope to open the space to more area residents by next year.
