One of the greatest players in Virginia Tech women's basketball history will not return for one final season.
Hokies fans have been waiting to see if senior point guard Georgia Amoore would enter the WNBA Draft or return to Tech for an extra year of eligibility.
He said goodbye to the third-team All-American on his Instagram account Thursday.
“The last four years have been truly amazing,” she wrote. “But it's time to say goodbye. … I especially want to thank my coaches for their love and support. I send lots of hugs to my teammates.”
Amoore's announcement came four days after Tech lost to Baylor in the second round of the NCAA Tournament and two days after Kenny Brooks resigned as Tech's coach to take the job at Kentucky.
Amoor did not say whether he declared for the draft. However, if she turns pro, she is expected to be a first-round pick in next month's draft.
