An Australian woman who dropped four dress sizes and lost around 50 pounds is often accused of having facial plastic surgery because she looks so unrecognizable.
“People at my high school bump into me and when I say hi, no one knows who I am,” Chloe Boulet, 23, told SWNS. She said, “I remember her grandmother saying, 'Chloe, you're unrecognizable.'”
The Brisbane-born content creator and part-time child support worker started struggling with her weight and bulimia when she got her first job in a bakery as a teenager.
She grew up in a single-parent household that believed food was scarce, so when she became a teenager she became “excited” by the new options “available to her.”
Boulet filled himself up by eating pastries and pies at work, and his weight gradually increased. Her weight reached 194 pounds at the age of 15 and she wore a size 16.
“I couldn't understand what was going on,” Boulet recalled. “I didn't really have a desire to look good.”
For four years, Gen Zers found themselves stuck in an unhealthy cycle of overeating and then restricting their diets.
As her 18th birthday approached, she decided she wanted to lose weight. Her goal was to “get to the point where I felt nauseous at the gym and didn't want to eat dinner.”
Boulet managed to lose weight, but she thought she would never break free from the “toxic cycle” of overeating and restricting her diet.
“I tried every diet, including keto and fasting,” she said. “It stays stable for three or four weeks, then it goes back to normal.”
In May 2023, Boulet finally realized that she had an unhealthy relationship with food and her body, so she threw away all the scales in her house and started eating intuitively based on her hunger cues. I did.
“I stepped on the scale every day and if I didn't lose weight, I would have thought I had failed,” she lamented.
She is currently a size 8 and believes she weighs around 143 pounds.
Boulet said her family had noticed significant changes in her physical and mental health, and her partner Jovan, 25, a cook, had been “very supportive”.
Her face has also changed dramatically over the years. She credits this to lifestyle adjustments and kasha, a Chinese treatment that improves blood circulation.
“People on the internet accused me of having plastic surgery on my face. It never bothered me,” Boulet said. “I feel strong now. I really love myself.”
She also practices meditation and attends a 5 a.m. Reformer Pilates class, a low-impact core workout, five to six times a week.
“Exercise is now a celebration of what your body can do, rather than a punishment,” she exclaims. “It feels good to be alive.”
