Lily has beautiful boxer markings, including white socks and a black line around her muzzle. You would never guess that she was found in her box with her siblings. She is smart and alert. Lily is very playful and would make a great companion for playtime, walks, and hikes. She will do well in a home with other dogs and children. She will be a wonderful addition to our family.

Treeing Walker Coonhound mix
This wonderful boy is a walker. He is a big and adorable boy and he loves to play. Like any good hunting dog, he gets excited when he sees cats and squirrels. He loves spending time with people and other dogs. He has very soft ears and he loves it when you scratch his ears. He is tame and his entire body trembles when he sees a human. He has never met a stranger and is just a big loving lug. You couldn't ask for a better dog.

Sheppritter was handed over to one of our rescue partners in Louisiana by a woman who claimed her mother would not care for her. Leo has a deep chocolate black coat. He is such a soft and cuddly person. Leo has a very gentle personality, but is very playful with his siblings. Upon adoption, this little guy loves to play with his humans and then cuddle up for a little nap. You couldn't ask for a better puppy.

Opie just took his first shot and did very well. This handsome little rug has a very sweet personality. Who can resist that wrinkled face! He is also a playful and affectionate person. I think this baby will be born soon, so please inquire if he can meet you soon.

Perfect alto, her symphonic snore will lull you to sleep. She is 10 years old! She embodies “her age is just a number” and is ready to prove it. She loves the game of fetch, she loves water, and she prefers booty scratches to her head scratches every day. Petunia is raised in a home with other dogs, cats, a 10-year-old child, and a baby. As a bonus, she will keep you company during long trips in her car. Petunia's perfect home allows her to become a Velcro pet by birth. She got off to a tough start by the time she came to AFH, she was discovered over a year ago with her underweight and her eyes in two. She is now healthy and safe in a nursing home and ready to ride off into the sunset with her forever family.

australian shepherd mix
Harley and her mother, Hartley, landed at a shelter in southern Virginia. He is now in a wonderful nursing home. He gets along very well with the older dogs in his foster home and loves playing with them. He loves to sit on your lap and kiss you – he will happily fall asleep there. He is learning about the crate but has not yet discovered the joy of toys. He is a good driver and will often go on family trips. As you can see in his videos, he loves bones and chews. He also loves picking up sticks from the garden. Generally he is a playful, goofy, friendly, and lovable guy who is ready to build his forever home.

Abby is an amazing girl! She is very affectionate towards her foster family and gets along well with her children. She has perfect house manners and does well in the crate. Abby is housetrained and walks very well on a leash. Abby will be a very loyal companion. I hope she meets this wonderful rug and falls in love with it!
