Fitness is a big part of Dr. Ellen Hancock's life, and she aims to share that passion with her patients as a surgeon at Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery.
August will mark two years since Hancock, who grew up in Austin, Texas, and her husband moved to the area from their familiar Galveston, Texas home.
But the endless beautiful weather and possibilities for outdoor activities led the couple to Nocatee, which they now call home.
“My favorite things to do are run, hike, or go out on the bike trails at Guana Reserve,” Hancock said. “We go mountain biking almost every weekend, and you never know what animals you might see, from bobcats to birds.”
According to Hancock, being healthy and feeling good about your body is all about the choices you make, and those choices become part of a broader healthy lifestyle.
“Surgery is one thing, but if you don't maintain a healthy lifestyle, you won't get the results you want,” Hancock says. “I've really come to know how much what we eat affects our bodies and how it affects aging. As a plastic surgeon, you and the advice you give to your patients Going out of your way to earn their trust has a really big impact.”
But she also understands how difficult it can be for some people, but she also understands that there are many paths to finding a healthy lifestyle, and what works for one person may be different. I also know that it may not be the best approach for some people.
“I've never counted calories and I don't own a scale. I still feel like I'm living a healthy lifestyle, but I'm just doing it for myself,” Hancock said. Told.
For her, running or working out outdoors is a very meditative process that gives her an outlet to relax and decompress from the hectic times in her life.
Her outdoor activities also include gardening, which gives her another dimension. Although it may not be as demanding from a physical fitness standpoint, she enjoys increasing her own healthy eating options.
Hancock is also a member of the Nocatee Women's Running Group, which shares her passion for running.
“It's all about finding an activity that makes you happy, whatever it is,” Hancock said. “For me it's running or mountain biking, but for others it might be swimming or pickleball. As long as it's something you enjoy and it keeps you active, it doesn't really matter.” It's not.”
Hancock is grateful to have her husband by her side during most of her fitness lifestyle. Because she knows that having someone to share her lifestyle with will help her a lot in continuing with it.
It might also be getting a dog, since she walks the dog regularly and that is a measure of responsibility to her.
“Even if I haven’t taken them for a walk for a while, I can tell by the way they look at me when it’s time,” Hancock laughed. “They definitely hold me accountable and help me make sure I fulfill it. That's necessary in your life.”
