England fly-half Marcus Smith has recovered from injury and is in contention to play against Ireland in the Six Nations.
Harlequins' mainstay has been suffering from a calf problem and missed the Red Rose's opening three matches against Italy, Wales and Scotland.
After rehabbing in camp over the past few weeks, Smith will be back in the 36-man group and will compete with George Ford and Finn Smith for a starting spot against Ireland.
Another positive for Steve Borthwick
If Quins' playmaker starts, Alex Mitchell is likely to be included as well, with Mitchell also set to return after missing the Calcutta Cup match.
Mitchell will replace Harry Randall, while Smith will replace Max Ojomo, who did well in England's game against Portugal but was left out of the 23-man squad.
There is also the return of Immanuel Faye-Waboso, who missed last week's training to take part in exams at the University of Exeter as part of his medical degree.
However, Will Muir, who replaced Fay-Waboso, remained in number 36, with Steve Borthwick deciding to replace him as an additional back.
As a result, flanker Tom Pearson is the man to make way as the head coach looks to get back on track after the defeat in the last Six Nations.
England opened the season with 27-24 and 16-14 wins over Italy and Wales, but their Grand Slam dreams ended at Murrayfield.
The Red Rose will take on a dominant side next weekend when unbeaten Ireland visit Twickenham in a competition that ends with a clash with France.
