Rhinelander, Wis. (WJFW) – A big part of Rhinelander's Embrace is mindfulness. This means paying attention to the present moment. From there, people can renew their mind and body.
Kelly Ananson, owner of Embrace Yoga and Healing Arts Center, said her studio started as a dream and became a reality after years of believing in its potential.
“I really wanted a space in our community where people could come as they are, let go of all their to-dos, and spend a full hour or more just resetting themselves. To find their center, to find their peace. To fill their cup so they can go out into the world to provide for their work and their families. That way they’re not running around empty-handed,” Kelly said.
Kelly offers a wide range of classes from beginner to advanced yoga, meditation, holistic life coaching, and more.
Client Jordan Kolb shares her healing journey.
“About a year ago, I was living a very chaotic, very busy lifestyle. I was living in fight-or-flight mode,” Jordan said.
Until she was introduced to the Embrace, she lived her life in survival mode.
“It all started with going to a few yoga classes, then a few sound baths, and then I started a three-month program with Kelly,” Jordan said.
What happened next was beyond Jordan's expectations.
“After that, my life completely changed and I definitely felt more present and had more time for myself. Showing up for myself every day for work, family, and friends. I feel that I can do it.
She said it was a healthy, life-changing experience that she didn't even know she needed.
“I feel joy every day, even though I wasn't always happy before. I was always anxious and the anxiety I felt every day was through the roof. I feel like I'll never be there again.
Jordan has a message for those who are hesitant to try something new.
“Definitely trust the process. It may be a little scary at first and your emotions may be up and down, but I promise it's worth it,” Joran said.
Kelly is asking viewers to commit to spending a week at home making three simple changes to their day.
“First thing in the morning, start by taking slow, deep breaths. Expand your belly as you inhale, and exhale completely as you exhale. Just get into the energy of gratitude. Even if you don't feel well that morning. , fosters a sense of gratitude. We can always remember that we were so appreciated,” Kelly said.
Whatever it is for you, no matter how big or small, embody gratitude.
“The next thing to do is have a cup of warm lemon water, tea, or coffee in calm weather.”
Kelly said she just sat and breathed in the warmth, not thinking about tomorrow or what happened last night. She allows herself to just feel the present moment.
“Then number three is to go out into nature. Reconnect to the earth for five to 10 to 15 minutes. Reconnect with the healing energy that surrounds us.”
Kelly said we all wear closed-soled shoes and stay indoors for six months of the year. We feel disconnected from nature and the healing blessings that are all around us. All you have to do is get dressed, open the door and go outside.
“I encourage everyone to try these three practices for a week and see the difference that happens afterward,” Kelly said.
