If you've been a pet parent for any length of time, you know how much of a real family member your fur babies are. Maybe you live on a farm and greet the animals on a regular basis.
My cat Lucy, who I talked about earlier, understands that too. We have a routine for when we leave for the day and when we return home. At times like that, he jumps up like a dog and climbs onto my shoulder, hugging me and cuddling me. Being a cat, you will have to do this many times until you are satisfied. I always say goodbye to him and tell him to be a good boy. Lucy tends to show her mischievous side and needs reminders.
We asked our viewers a question on Facebook, and the answers weren't disappointing. Josephine C. said, “That's right. Just say I have to go…I'll be right back…Be a good girl, little girl.” Kevin M. gives the pets responsibility when he leaves, and Patty A. always tells them where to go in case they need anything from the store.
Mark L. said, “I give my pets plenty of notice when I go away for a few days. I make sure they know what's going on each time.” I wonder if Mark also left his phone number and detailed instructions on what to do in case of an emergency. Commenter Suzanne O. showed us the treats she just baked for her pet below.
According to petplay.com, talking to your pet is beneficial for both parties. It promotes strong bonds, pets are good listeners, and pets can improve their overall mental health.
No matter what anyone says, talk to your pet. Pets are listening.
Susquehanna SPCA Miracle Puppy
The Susquehanna SPCA assisted in the rescue of a 6-year-old Siberian Husky named “Candy,” a female puppy mill who was retired from breeding. Through a partnership with Furever Friends Dog Rescue of WNY, an Ohio nonprofit that rescues dogs retired from puppy mills, the dog was being cared for and made available for adoption at a shelter in Cooperstown. Part of that process is having your dog neutered before you adopt it. A big surprise happened during the surgery. It turned out that a very thin dog was carrying four puppies inside her body. Three of them were confirmed to be still alive and were rescued. What a miracle!
